the churches on-the-hill foodbank

special covid announcement

For our Clients:

We are open during our regular hours but have moved our service out of doors.  No access to the building or washrooms is allowed.
We are providing prepacked bags of food based on family size and we have suspended choice and specials until the crisis is over. There will be no access to the building during the pandemic. If you are feeling ill or have a compromised immune system, please ask a friend to pick up for you. All clients must wear masks.
Hours of Service:
  • Monday, 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM
  • Wednesday, 10:30 AM to 12:30PM

For our Supporters:

Our largest annual food drive, our largest fund and food raiser, was cancelled this year out of concern for the health and safety of our volunteers and our donors. We do need your ongoing support in order to continue to purchase food items from wholesalers to support those who depend on us. Please use our secure, online service in this website to make a donation. Thank you

For New Clients:

When new clients call to get registered before your first visit, you will need:
  1. Identification (Drivers Licence or Health Card, or Passport or Visa)
  2. Identification for all household members using the services of our Food Bank.
  3. Proof of address (OW or ODSP cheque record, rental agreement) and phone number.

we're here to help

Founded and sponsored by the Churches on-the-Hill*, and acting as a regional agency of the Daily Bread Food Bank, we operate a Supplemental Food Program, supplying groceries to individuals and families who have a place to live but whose income is often insufficient to make ends meet. This group of families facing regular but generally short-term hunger is our target population.

The thought of people going hungry has always bothered me. Three years ago I finally decided to do something about it by applying to volunteer at COTH food bank. It makes me feel good to help out in my community. I really enjoy being a part of the COTH team.

The centre works to qualify new clients. It also does an in-depth assessment of clients’ non-food needs and assists them in accessing other support services in the community.

our food by the numbers

Food donations come from Daily Bread Food Bank, local food drives, member churches and our sponsors but we purchase over half of the food we distribute with funds donated by the local community.

Even the most modest donation makes a difference!
